The Amahoro Coalition Education Initiative

Refugee students’ demand for education far outstrips available opportunities; as of 2023, only 6% of refugees have access to higher education, far below the global average higher education enrollment among non-refugees, which stands at more than 40%. This number is even lower for refugees who live in low-to-middle-income countries. Furthermore, bleak employment prospects discourage refugee students as they plan their careers, affecting their performance in university or other post-secondary education institutions.

As such, the Amahoro Education initiative hosts diverse education programs that focus on building and renovating schools and creating modern classrooms, libraries, and technology labs that inspire learning among the refugees and displaced communities. They also focus on innovative teaching methods, digital literacy, and inclusive education practices, ensuring educators are well-equipped to foster student success. Additionally, Amahoro prioritizes mentorship, career development, and leadership training support to students’ degree completion rates, participation in STEM subjects, and a sense of self-empowerment, especially for students from vulnerable backgrounds.  By supporting the initiative, you're not just building schools—you're building futures, empowering the next generation of refugees and displaced communities with the skills and opportunities to thrive.
